Descrizione

Rare large format book (256 pages) captures the essence of the day to day life of street cops in New York City in the late 70's and early 80's. This rare hardcover photo essay by noted photographer Jill Freedman contains hundreds of photographs, raw and graphic, that highlight the conditions in America's large cities in those times. New York City in this time was in a state of urban decay. Drugs, crime, and poverty were at an all time high. Freedman, once a critic of police in the 60's, depicts the NYPD "street cop" as doing an incredible dirty and thankless job protecting the cities most vulnerable.  Despite the bad reputation the department had, these cops come through as real heroes.
