Adam is on the run in the wilds of Rann. The ruling council of Ranagar is lost without the critically injured Sardath. Marleah plans a revolution to take over Rann. Dr. Eve Fox is obsessed with finding Adam. The Council falls into chaos. Adam is found by Bantteir, who is Alanna's mother. Alanna goes into labor. Eve is transported to Rann. The other citystate of Zared attacks Ranagar.
